Culture / Sharing Betel

Chewing betel is one of the classic traditional Malay culture which is generally presented in honor of special guests who attend a ceremony. This photo is part of a ceremony tradition in Muara Jambi Temple excavation site which is newly discovered. Sharing betel is intended to respect the spirits that exist in the excavation area, to ask for permission as we sacredly believe that the sprits occupy the excavation site.
