Culture / Maiko of Gion District

This is Maiko, the apprentice of Geiko (Geisha). Maiko usually young and identified via their hairstyle called "nihongami" with a "kanzashi". Just like the Geisha, it is very hard to photograph them because they usually go out at night and they move very fast. Hunting them for a photograph is a must for all tourist visiting Kyoto. Maiko and Geiko is a part of feudal Japan that is still kept apart of modern japan culture.
