Shah Alam (20) came to Dhaka from Noakhali, Chittagong, in search of work with his neighbor at the age of 15. Days weren't that easy for him back then. He had to do a lot of labour intensive works unfit for his age. Experiencing all the hassles and turmoils everyday, he almost gave up the hope for a good and happy life.
After some months he happened to have a chance to work in an electrical workshop with accommodation facilities. The shop owner kept him as an apprentice then. By dint of his concentration and hard labor, now he's the manager of the shop and teaches electric works to new-comers. He's really skilled in his profession and admired.
Earning $110 a month, he sends about 45% of that to his parents. I always find him jolly and smiling like this. After all the hardship and turmoil he earned this position and respects it fully. The most magnificent thing I discovered about him is his thirst for knowledge. He's admitted himself in a course in Northern University Bangladesh and his classes will begin soon. Wishing him all the very best!
