The tenggerese keep warm in the fireplace when the ceremony takes place Kasada. The Kasada festival (pronounced and sometimes spelled: Kasodo) is a ceremonial ritual at Gunung Bromo—an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia. The ritual’s finale consists of throwing food sacrifices into the crater in hopes of ensuring future eruptions.
