Robert's a friend of mine. One day on the park bench, he observed me making a photograph of a fountain. We chatted, and I, as casually as possible, began making photographs of Robert as we talked. Here, he pauses to estimate my purpose-- a mutual looking: open and receptive, yet also careful. Robert writes short stories and commentary on Shakespeare, an author whose plays command Robert's attention.
