Culture / Pacu Jawi, The Highest Adrenaline Competition in Sumatra


Pacu Jawi (Minangkabau language) or cow racing competition is one of the cultural events of West Sumatra, originating from Tanah Datar district. This traditional Indonesian event has been around for hundreds of years and was originally an activity undertaken by the farmers just to fill the time after the harvest season comes for leisure as well as a means of entertainment for local people and thanksgiving ritual before they start the next planting season.
