Rang Panchami would be celebrated in Indore, Traditionally, Rang Panchami is more important than Holi in the Malwa region. On the occasion, 'gers' (usually open Trankers or jeeps) are taken out by various organizations and they sprinkle colours and water on the people as they pass along the city roads. Police have made strict security arrangements to ensure that the event passes off peacefully. reveling in color-mania, gathered on the streets to participate in the ‘GAIR’ procession taken out in the western parts of the City on Friday mark the festival of Rangpanchami. Indore has consistently been vying to outdo Vrindavan and Mathura in Holi celebrations and has created a special significance for the colorful festivities organized by the public on Rangpanchmi, which falls five days after holi. Although Holi is a Hindu celebration, other communities also take part in the merriment giving it a secular status and binding together people of different faiths. The densely populated western area of the City has been the traditional ground for the festivity.
