Culture / Daraga Church

This year was the 400th centennial year of Daraga church, a UNESCO heritage site . The church was first built in Cagsawa and was buried during the eruption of Mayon volcano in 1614. The local parishioners then decided to rebuild the church on a hilltop in the nearby town of Daraga named from the surviving women of Cagsawa. The church is still undergoing restoration by NCCA thus the white limestone paint present in the church belfry.
