Nature / Khardung La - Gateway to The Nubra Valley

The northern most part of accessible Ladakh - The Nubra Valley is a mix of desert sand dunes and lush green. However, the road is one which is accessed only after one crosses the Highest Pass, motorable and dangerous road in the world. The Shyok River down below, (literally "the river of death" in Yarkandi Uyghur) flows through northern Ladakh in India and the Northern Areas of Pakistan (Ghangche District), spanning some 550 km (340 mi).
