Culture / Bite For Speed

Once a year Cow Race Festival is held in Batu Sangkar, West Sumatra, Indonesia at the end of rice harvesting season. This has become part of Indonesian culture since hundred years ago. Each cow is prepared to be the winner, a good race performance can lead to generating a higher price for those farmers that plan to sell breeding stock. The jockey will do the race with their hands holding on tight to their cow and encourage their steeds to go faster by biting their tails.
