Culture / Charak Festival

Charak is a religious festival of rural Bengal dedicated to Lord Shiva. Selected devotees swing round the "Charak" tree hanging from the top by a rope tied to two iron hooks pierced through the back muscles of the devotee. This is a panned shot after sundown with help of a couple of flashes.
