Gajan is another form of religious festival of rural Bengal closely associated with "Charak" and also dedicated to Lord Shiva. In different districts of Bengal the rituals of Gajan vary. In this image the rituals of Burdwan district of West bengal is depicted. here devotees get painted on the face and decorated with various paper ornaments and after the decoration is complete, they go round the area in procession.
