The chosen Gajan devotees, men and women, by virtue of their 7 days penance, performing the final ritual of rolling forward towards the temple of Lord Shiva. All other village women are there who continuously pour water on the devotees as a part of the ritual as well as to beat the heat. It's their chance to gain virtue as well. Gajan is a religious festival of rural Bengal dedicated to Lord Shiva.
